EFFECTS PEDALS

Sound Discovery

I first began having an earnest interest in electronic components and how to put them together in 2013. Inspired by DIY websites and YouTube videos, I started putting audio circuits together on a breadboard and learning the basics of electronics engineering. In 2014 I built the Mud Man for Elliot Zimmerman of The Helionauts. Being a heavily modified Arbiter Fuzz Face circuit with inspiration taken from noise masters like Death By Audio and Devi Ever, it was an unruly beast that lived up to its name by sounding like the wails of an unspeakable mud-soaked horror.

In 2015 I made a more versatile MOSFET-based dirty boost called The Soloist. Sadly no pictures exist and the pedal was stolen by banditos.

In 2018 I tried my hand at doing a kitchen-sink modification of an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff for Bob Boulding, then of the Young Dubliners. New ground was not necessarily broken here as all of the modifications were all previously tried and tested by others, but I like to think that only a small subsection of them had as many of the bells and whistles as this one did.

PISTIL

Sound Discovery

Around 2016 I was fortunate enough to be able to play drums in a band comprised of very accomplished musicians and seasoned veterans of local bands. Drumming had not been much more than an occasional pass-time before that, and the style of music we played was more rhythmically demanding than I had attempted before. In short, it was a learning experience from start to finish, one that I deeply appreciate having the opportunity to undertake.

Pistil called it quits in 2020.

OTHER AUDIO

Assorted sounds and noises

I have other audio adventures I will put up here.

Eventually.
